Level 2 Certificate in preparing to work in Adult Social Care
The NCFE CACHE Level 2-3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care provides an ideal taster for learners who may be new to the sector or new to the world of work. It is accessible to learners of all ages -school leavers who are eligible for employment and pre-apprenticeship programmes, adult returners or those undergoing a career change and who may want to understand more about working in health and social care. It aims to introduce some basic concepts of caring and preparation for employment in the sector.
Qualification goal
This qualification is aimed at learners interested in, or new to, working in adult social care in England. It aims to introduce knowledge around the following areas relating to working in adult social care:
communication
equality, diversity and inclusion
personal development
role of the social care worker
handling information
health and safety
safeguarding
duty of care
person-centred approaches
To achieve this qualification, learners must complete all 9 mandatory units, gaining them a total of 20 credits:
Principles of communication in adult social care settings (2 Credits)
Principles of personal development in adult social care settings (2 Credits)
Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings (2 Credits)
Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care (3 Credits)
Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings (1 Credit)
Understand the role of the social care worker (1 Credit)
Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care settings (4 Credits)
Understand health and safety in social care settings (4 Credits)
Understand how to handle information in social care settings (1 Credit)
Who is this qualification for?
There are no specific prior qualifications needed to access this qualification. However, learners might find it useful if they have already completed a Level 1 qualification.
Is this Level right for me?
Level 2: Certificate in preparing to work in Adult Social Care (Guided Learning Hours: 179):
This level will suit you if you are considering, or starting out in, a career in Adult Social Care, and you need to develop your basic knowledge.
Level 3 Certificate in preparing to work in Adult Social Care
This qualification was developed in partnership with industry experts within Health and Social Care and will provide you with a nationally recognised qualification in the sector.
Qualification goal:
You will understand communication, handling information, and health and social care within adult social care settings. You’ll also understand the role of the social care worker and person-centred approaches.
You will also develop your knowledge of diversity, equality and inclusion, safeguarding and protection, and how to implement a duty of care.
Qualification content
This qualification consists of 9 mandatory units, including a total of 21 credits:
Principles of communication in adult social care settings (2 credits)
Principles of personal development in adult social care settings (2 credits)
Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings (2 credits)
Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care (3 credits)
Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings (1 credit)
Understand the role of the social care worker (1 credit)
Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care settings (4 credits)
Understand health and safety in social care settings (5 credits)
Understand how to handle information in social care settings (1 credit)
What type of qualification is this?
You can expect to be involved in formal learning activities – which could include
classes,
tutorials or seminars
you’ll also be expected to work independently, researching the subject and preparing for class-based activities. This qualification focuses on developing your knowledge and understanding of adult social care. 100 per cent of the qualification focuses on developing your vocational knowledge and understanding – supporting your progression into work within the Health and Social Care sector
